Pokemon Diamond Walkthrough Home
The story starts off with Professor Rowan. He will ask you things about you, as in every other Pokemon game. He will also tell you what he does, and blah-blah-blah. He also asks you what your rival's name is. You answer and everything, and the game starts. You are watching a Pokemon show about some Red Gyarados. After that, head downstairs. Your mom is watching T.V. and she notices you come down. She tells you that your rival wants to see you. Go outside, and you will be in Twinleaf Town, a small village... Anyways, go to the top left house. Your rival will burst out and smack into you. He will then run back into the house. Follow him. Go up the stairs, and you will see him at the desk. He will be collecting his things, then tell you to meet him at the lake. He won't say why. You meet him at Route 201. He wants to catch the Red Gyarados, he happened to watch the same show that you did. Go left on Route 201, and enter the next area. You will be at Verity Lakefront. Rowan and Dawn are standing in the grass ahead, talking. They stop talking, and go to leave. Rowan will pass, and Dawn right after. There is a briefcase in the grass. You and your rival look at it, and come up with the theory that Rowan left it behind. Just then, two Starly will attack. Luckily, there are three PokeBalls in the briefcase, and you have to choose one. (Choose which one you really want because this is going to be your starter.) After that, you get into a battle with one of the Starly. The Starly you face is Lv. 2, easy enough for a Lv. 5 to defeat, right? Use the only attacking move, Tackle or Pound. After the battle your Pokemon will gain some Exp. points. Your rival has the type advantage over your starter, because he chose the type you are weak against. (Example: You choose Piplup, he chooses Turtwig.) After the fight, you will be at home, and your mom will tell you that you should go to see Prof. Rowan in Sandgem Town. She gives you the running shoes, making your trip to Sandgem Town much faster. (Plus, this game is really annoying at the beginning because you have to walk. -_-") So after that, you leave, with the Pokemon you battled with before. Go to your rival's house, and get the parcel from his mother. She asks you to deliver it to, your rival, and thats what you have to do. Go to Route 201, and go right this time. Its mainly only wild Pokemon. Go through it, and you can battle the wild Pokemon, to get Exp., or you can just go through the Route. You will be at Sandgem Town, where Dawn is standing to greet you. She will take you to Prof. Rowan's lab, and your rival apparently appeared there before you. He leaves, and and Prof. Rowan talks to you for a while, gives you a PokeDex and the Pokemon you battled with earlier. He also assigns you with the job of traveling Sinnoh and recording the data of all the Pokemon. After you leave, Dawn gives you a tour of Sandgem Town. After she does, leave Sandgem Town to go back to Twinleaf. When you return to Twinleaf, go to your house and tell your mom about your oncoming journey. She approves of the idea, and sends you off. Now, go back to Sandgem Town, and go to Route 202 by going up the path to the North. Dawn is waiting in the grass. Approach her and she will teach you how to catch Pokemon, and also hand over five PokeBalls. She will leave, and you can progress. Up the Route a little, there are trainers, who want to battle. You can battle them, for experience. After that, you will soon be at Jubilife City. Once there, Dawn will talk to you, and tell you that your rival is at the Pokemon School. Go there, and talk to him. You give him the parcel, and it is two Town Maps. He says that he doesn't need two, and gives you one of the maps. He then departs for Oreburgh City. You can battle the two trainers on the blue, and get the TM Hidden Power from the boy. If you leave and try to go North, a man will approach you saying that if you give him three special coupons that three hidden clowns are holding, he will give you a Pokemon Watch, or Poketch, for short. The clowns ask you yes or no questions, and the answer is always yes. The first clown is hidden behind the Poke Center. The next one is outside the T.V. station. The last one, is a little further West from the second, and is in front of the Poketch Co. After you have the three coupons, go to the man again and give them to him. He will give you the Poketch. Now, go up from there, and then go East to the rightward path. You will battle your rival for the very first time. Hopefully you caught some Pokemon before going to Jubilife City, they will help you in this battle.
Rival
Pokemon: Lv. 9 ???(His Starter), Lv. 7 Starly
After the battle, keep going East. You will battle some trainers, and maybe get some items. The end of Route 203 is at Oreburgh Gate, the cave. Go through it, and battle the trainers if you wish. And also don't forget to get the HM Rock Smash from the man at the beginning of the cave. It cannot be used however, until you get your first gym badge. After the cave, you are in Oreburgh City. This City has the first gym in it. A guy will take you over to the gym, and your rival is, of course, already there. He tells you the gym leader has gone to Oreburgh Mine, which is to the right of the gym, below the Poke Center. Enter, and go to the actual Mine. There are wild rock-type Pokemon here. If you want, catch some. You will probably want them for the gym battle. Avoid trainers if wanted, and go down to where you see a guy in a red helmet. That is the gym leader. Talk to him. He will then demonstrate the use of Rock Smash, the HM you obtained earlier. He leaves, to go back to the gym. Follow him out of the mine, and go to the gym. You can then enter. There are trainers to fight, if wanted, but they can easily be avoided. After you get through the gym, go up to the gym leader. Talk to him and the battle will begin.
Roark
Pokemon: Lv. 12 Geodude, Lv. 12 Onix, Lv. 14 Cranidos
Recommended Pokemon: Piplup (with Bubble), Turtwig (with Razor Leaf), Budew, Machop, Chimchar (with Mach Punch)
After the battle, Roark will give you the Coal Badge, and the TM Stealth Rock. Now, exit the gym and go to Route 207, above Oreburgh. You can catch Machop, or Budew, and get a PokeBall as well. Go back to Oreburgh, as you can't go any farther on this Route, without a bike. Go back, to Oreburgh Gate, and your rival will stop you. He says he plans to go to Eterna City next, by going through Jubilife. He storms away as usual, and you go through Oreburgh Gate. Go back to Jubilife City, and take the North Route this time. You will see Prof. Rowan and Dawn at the beginning of the Route, with two strange men. They appear to be trying to steal something from Prof. Rowan, and Dawn and you team up to battle them. After the battle, they flee, and Rowan tells you that Team Galactic wants to try and harness the energy of Pokemon Evolution. Dawn and Prof. Rowan leave, and a man who was watching your battle gives you a Fashion Case. You can now go on Route 204. Go North like you were before the meeting with Rowan and Dawn, and progress through the Route. When you get to Ravaged Cave, go up the stairs and head right, smashing a rock, using Rock Smash. Exit the cave. Keep going on the Route. When you arrive in a small, rather lovely town, you are in Floaroma Town. There is a lot to do in this town involving berries, that I will not explain. Head East onto Route 205. You should run into a little girl, who asks you to save her father, who is being held captive, at a place called Valley Windworks. Go East to find the place, and there should be a grunt on guard, just like the ones you saw at Jubilife. Battle him, and after you defeat him, he will run inside, with the Windworks Key, which is needed to get in. He does say though, that his comrades have the other key. Jeez, what an idiot he is. Ha. Anyway, go back to Floaroma, and go up to the place where the two grunts were standing. They're gone. Go into that area, and you will see the two grunts demanding a man to give them some of his honey. Go up and talk to one of them. They will battle you, and not in a double battle, just seperately. After they're defeated, they will flee, and the man will thank you by giving you honey, and the Windworks Key they dropped. Now, head back to the Valley Windworks and open the door. The grunt will be shocked you got in, and flee to some other part of the building. There are grunts here, which can be avoided, if you want. Fight them if you wish, but I wouldn't because you have a big fight coming up. Go up to the red haired lady. She says that she is one of Team Galactic's commanders, and she battles you. After the battle, Team Galactic clears the building and flees, (As usual.) And the man is safe. His daughter rushes in and hugs him, and makes a comment about his perspiration. Anyways, thats off topic. Leave the Works, and you can now go up the path, across the bridge, outside the Works. Go up and battle the trainers if you wish, end go to the red house if your Pokemon are hurt. The lady will heal them. Leave the house, and enter the wooded area. You will be in Eterna Forest. Upon entering, a girl named Cheryl will walk up and ask to walk with you, in fear of Team Galactic. She also battles with you against trainers, and heals your Pokemon after every trainer or wild Pokemon encounter. Go through the forest, and at the end you will see a mansion. You cannot get to it now, you can go back to that later if you wish. Exit the forest, after Cheryl thanks you. You will be next to a stream, where there are bridges to get across. Trainers are on this bridge, if you wish to battle them. They are the fisherman you see. You have to talk to them to fight them. After the bridges, you will be in Eterna City, home of the grass-type gym. Go North right as you enter Eterna City, and then right. A woman named Cynthia will give you the HM Cut. Like Rock Smash, you cannot use it until you obtain another gym badge. You should now go check out the gym. Once inside, you will have to find four trainers and battle them. Once you have accomplished that, you can battle the gym leader.
Gardenia
Pokemon: Lv. 19 Cherubi, Lv. 19 Turtwig, Lv. 22 Roserade
Recommended Pokemon: Staravia, (with flying-type attack move) Chimchar (with fire-type move)
After the battle, Gardenia will give you the Forest Badge, and the TM Grass Knot. Exit the gym, and go North, to the Galactic Headquarters, and use cut to get there. Enter the HQ. Once inside, there will be grunts guarding the staircase. Fight them, and go up the staircase. On this floor, there are a bunch of grunts researching on computers. Two of them will fight you if you speak to them. Go up the stairs. You will battle another grunt, and a scientist. Go up again, and there will be a Galactic commander. Fight her, and Team Galactic, will once again, flee. The man who was held captive in the building, thanks you and tells you to go and stop by his bike shop sometime. He then leaves. Exit the building, and go to his bike shop. He gives you the bicycle, which has two different modes, unlike other Pokemon games. You can now go on Cycling Road, and move on. Go down to the bottom of Eterna City to get to Cycling Road. There are trainers on Cycling Road, which can be avoided if wanted to.
